It has been almost three years since India
gave you a landslide victory on the basis of your promise of acche din. The country believed in you.
But Narendrabhai, you have utterly and completely failed us.
In these three years, we have yet to see a
single accha din. On the contrary,
what you have given us is an increased cost of living; complete lack of safety
for women and more empty words.
We believed in you. We trusted your
promises of progress. We were so -- oh so very wrong.
On the day of the counting in 2013,
multitudes rejoiced as the results were being declared. We left everything to
revel in the euphoria -- each of us pray -- ab
ki baar teen sau paar! We were jubilant when you got such a resounding
victory. But almost immediately, many realised their mistake -- as was apparent
in every single election after the General Elections. Even in the re-polls, you
lost. You lost in almost every Assembly election too. That should have been a
wake-up call. But your arrogance could not see it. Also, there were
Modi-die-hards who persisted in drawing a silver lining around the dark cloud
-- the NDA government. The die-hards (me included) said that Modi is working on
foreign affairs. He is building India as a brand in the world. We persisted in
thinking that all those foreign trips of your would fructify in due time. We
said, “Modi is a single man -- what all can he do?” We chose to ignore the
galloping prices that made cost of living so dear. We chose to blame every
single member of your Cabinet for not doing a good job -- and we still believed
in you.
But Modibhai, you have now delivered the
cruellest cut of all. You have attacked Senior Citizens. Senior Citizens, a
group of people who are as dependent and helpless as newborns. Senior Citizens,
who have worked many long years and are counting on their saving to take them
through the rest of their lives. Senior Citizens, who have no active source or possibility
of income -- except for their savings. You have attacked this group in an
extremely cruel and sadistic way by cutting the rates of Senior Citizens
Scheme.
You have also attacked the poor who put
their pennies together to invest in the Post Office Schemes. The Post Office
schemes are all for Small Savings. This is where the poor, those eking out a
difficult living and those trying desperately to have some sort of a future --
invest. You have attacked these people too.
You have additionally displayed an utter disdain for
the working class. The salaried, middle class to whom PPF was the one ray of
hope. You have stolen their future away.
You have proved to be anti-Seniors;
anti-poor and anti-middle-class -- the very groups that turn out in large
numbers to cast their vote in your favour. Much as I find it demeaning to agree
with that joker Rahul Gandhi, you are indeed only a government for the
suited-booted.
Narendra Modi, this one act of yours has
sealed your fate. There is no way that India will ever vote for you or for BJP
again. We will waste our votes by selecting NOTA, but we will definitely not
vote for a gang that makes sure that we suffer. That makes it impossible for us
to live.
The act of reduction in Post Office
interest rates which will also enable banks to reduce their interest rates is
the last nail in the coffin -- ours and yours!
Goodbye Narendra Modi, BJP and NDA -- you
might as well not contest the next elections.
